The foundation facilitates volunteer activities with the aim of promoting community participation in the conservation and management of the region’s natural resources, transmitting knowledge by valuing the exchange of experiences as a source of personal learning, providing an objective view of field work and establishing guidelines for those who wish to take an active role in protected natural areas.
It is important to note that both the “La Esperanza” Wildlife Refuge and the “Punta Flecha-Vasco Aguerrebere” Southern Right Whale Observatory are Protected Natural Areas, so they are places far from the city, where there may be problems with the signal.
It can be done at any time of the year, except at the Punta Flecha-Vasco Aguerrebere Southern Right Whale Observatory, which is only open between the months of June and early December.
The foundation is responsible for paying insurance against accidents and illnesses arising from the exercise of voluntary activity, from the beginning to the end of its activities.
The foundation offers accommodation in the reserve for those who volunteer at the “La Esperanza” Wildlife Refuge, and has a room for those who carry out their activities at the Observatory.
At the headquarters, the volunteer has a private room, bed linen, an exclusive bathroom and a shared, equipped kitchen.
At “La Esperanza” the house has capacity for 12 people: 4 bedrooms with bed linen, 2 bathrooms, an equipped kitchen and a living room. It has electricity and hot water.
Food expenses are not included. Volunteers provide their own food. The water in the Reserve is not drinkable, so volunteers must plan to consume enough water to drink, wash and cook food.
The foundation provides, free of charge, transfers to and from the airport and/or bus terminal in Puerto Madryn, and internal transfers between the headquarters and the two Protected Natural Areas.
It is important to remember that volunteers are responsible for their own personal hygiene equipment, sleeping bag and/or blanket, clothing, footwear suitable for the weather, flashlight and binoculars if they have them.
The foundation does not cover expenses for leisure activities and/or private excursions, unless previously agreed with the organization.
Those interested in participating must send an email to obtain information about volunteering and complete a form that will be sent to them.
Once evaluated, an interview will be held to present the volunteer and resolve any concerns about the volunteer.
Depending on the profile and skills of the volunteer, the location, time of dedication and activities to be carried out will be determined.
Once the conditions have been agreed upon, all the information that may be relevant to their stay will be provided.
The fee will depend on the location where the volunteer work takes place.
